The last week has seen us carry out full RICS Building Surveys in Dursley and Malmesbury together with RICS Homebuyer Reports in Nailsworth, Tetbury and Melksham.
The prolonged period of hot weather may cause concern for property owners.
When no rain has fallen for some time this can cause shrinkage of clay soils. Thermal shrinkage and expansion can also cause cracking to buildings.
If any cracks become visible which you have not noticed before we would recommend you contact a Building Surveyor.
Trees are also desperate for water in this dry time and this may result in damage to drain runs.
Dry weather is usually followed by a period of wet weather! You should ensure gutters and downpipes are cleared in anticipation of future rain. Debris within the gutter system can dry to a solid state and cause blockage.
